Pierce Elementary School students honor grandparents

Pierce Elementary School held its fourth "Grandparents Day" Sept. 7. Over 180 grandparents came, with their favorite book from childhood in hand, as instructed.
Students sang songs, and read poems and stories written especially for grandparents. All grades participated.
President Jimmy Carter designated the first Sunday after Labor Day to be Grandparents Day in 1978.
