Middleburg man killed in Atoka Road wreck

Friday, Dec. 21 | By Mark Grandstaff
A Middleburg man died in a roll-over crash on Atoka Road Wednesday.

Fred Phill Duncan, 80, drove a 2005 Ford Focus north on Atoka Road. At 3 p.m., Duncan's Focus crossed the center line at a point about a mile and a half north of Rectortown Road. Duncan ran off the left side of the road, crashed into a fence, then hit a culvert, said Virginia First Sgt. Les Tyler.

The impact with the culvert overturned the Focus. Duncan died from injuries from the crash, Tyler said.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Trooper J. T. Price, Tyler said.
