Man convicted of DUI in Fauquier court dies after incarceration
A man sentenced to 45 days of jail in a Fauquier court for driving under the influence died Sunday after incarceration in the Northwest Regional Adult Detention Center.
According to a release from NRADC, Michael Allen Brown, 56, was convicted in Fauquier County General District Court of a second misdemeanor DUI within five years. Brown was sentenced to 45 days in jail and placed in the custody of NRADC on Jan. 14.
Three days later, Brown was transferred to the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester for a "pre-existing, life-threatening medical condition" with which he was diagnosed prior to his sentence. On Jan. 20, Brown was transferred again to the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. where he received more treatment for his illness.
While at the hospital, Brown died from his illness, according to the release.
