Liberty boys, Fauquier girls win swimming dual

The Liberty Eagles and Fauquier Falcons split a dual swim meet Friday at the Manassas Park Community Center.

The Liberty boys won, 139-107, despite winning only three events, while the Fauquier girls won, 149-121, also despite winning only three events.

Jacob Clopton and Chuck Crum led the Liberty boys by winning the 200 freestyle (2:25.76) and 500 free (5:21.69), while the team of Shawn Michanco, Christopher Berger, Parker Smith and Jacob Dombrowski won the 400 free relay (4:39.78).

Fauquier, meanwhile, won eight of the 11 boys events, including Jake Boulter in the 200 individual medley (2:17.22) and 100 butterfly (59.66), Jack Wessel in the 50 free (25.00) and 100 free (56.99), Jordan Evans in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.34) and Sam Henson in the 100 backstroke (1:12.81). Wessel, Boulter and Henson also combined with Keiju Takehara to win the 200 free relay (1:43.60), while Takehara, Evans, Boulter and Wessel won the 200 medley relay (1:57.99).

The Fauquier girls were led by Madailine St. Ledger, who won the 50 free (29.90), and Amanda Bengston, who won the 100 breast (1:20.25), and the winning 200 free relay team of St. Ledger, Brittany Adams, Sarah Dombrowski and Amber Cazeault (2:00.50).

For the Liberty girls, who won eight of 11 events, Kimmy Culver won the 200 free (2:08.02) and 100 fly (1:04.72), while Courtney Maskell won the 200 IM (2:41.23) and 500 free (6:36.79), Mikayla Ciuffo won the 100 free (1:01.71) and 100 back (1:10.48). Maskell, Ciuffo and Kimmy Culver also combined with Abigail Culver to win the 400 free relay (4:19.27) and 200 medley relay (2:10.96).
