The Fauquier Falcons beat the Skyline boys basketball team, 52-50, Tuesday on the road in Front Royal by taking a 21-7 lead in the first quarter and finishing the game on a 17-12 run in the fourth.

The Skyline Hawks used a 31-14 run to take a 38-35 at the end of the third quarter, but Fauquier rallied back to improve its record to 8-9 (3-1 Evergreen District).

Jeremiah Blackwell led the Falcons with 19 points and four steals, while Jay Jay Roberts had 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Caleb Lantz added nine points, while Dillon Tapscott had eight assists and seven points, Leif Heltzel had four rebounds, and Roberts had two assists.

Highland boys basketball 50, Steward 36

The Highland Hawks got their fifth victory in six games Tuesday with a 50-36 win over the Steward boys basketball team at home in Warrenton.

Ranked No. 2 in the latest VISAA Division II poll, Highland took a first-quarter lead, but fell behind by halftime, 23-22. The Hawks then limited No. 13 Steward to only 13 points in the second half and pulled away to improve their record to 11-5 (1-1 Delaney Athletic Conference).

Dylan Gaither led Highland with 17 points, while Rahji Johnson had 12, Matt Kelly had nine and Logan Miller added seven. Johnson also finished with seven rebounds and four steals, while Gaither had six rebounds, four steals and three assists, and Miller had four assists.
