The Fauquier Falcons broke a four-game losing streak Friday and picked up their first Evergreen District win with an emphatic, 59-38, victory over the Brentsville Tigers at home in Warrenton.
The Falcons used a 30-13 run in the first quarter to improve their record to 6-9 (1-1 district).
Dillon Tapscott led Fauquier with 23 points, including four 3-pointers, while Jeremiah Blackwell had 11 points and Leif Heltzel had eight. Tapscott also had four assists, as did Jay Jay Robinson, while Blackwell had three steals.
Wakefield girls basketball 43, Fresta Valley Christian 11
On Friday, the Wakefield Owls beat the Fresta Valley Christian girls basketball team, 43-11, to improve their record to 9-6.
Kelly Mason scored a game-high 12 points to increase her career total to 923 points. She also added six steals and three rebounds, while Alexis Smith had seven points and three steals. Shelby Sipes had a team-high six rebounds and three blocks as well as two steals, while Jillian Wise had four steals and four rebounds.
