The Wakefield Owls dominated the Tandem Friends girls basketball team, 56-23, Thursday at home in The Plains.

The Owls (8-7 record) took a 16-4 lead in the first quarter, 27-10 advantage by halftime and 39-17 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Emily Granruth led Wakefield with 18 points, while Kelly Mason and Airielle Jenkins had 12 each. Mason also had six of the Owls’ 17 steals, while Jenkins had three. Alexis Smith had seven assists and seven rebounds, while Granruth had six rebounds and Shelby Sipes had three assists.
