It seems fitting that Lauren Frye and Mackenzie Ross share the Player of the Year title on the all-Delaney Athletic Conference Division I team.
The lone seniors on the Highland roster, Ross and Frye carried the Hawks (15-8 record) to the first outright DAC regular season championship in program history and a third-consecutive appearance in the VISAA Division 2 state tournament. In fact, during a 3-2 victory over Walsingham Academy in the state quarterfinals, Frye and Ross combined for 75 percent of Highland’s kills (43 of 57).
Also fitting, the setter who provided those hitting opportunities, sophomore Miranda Shaw, made the all-DAC first team too, while Highland coach Gary Hicklin was name DAC Coach of the Year.
