Grace Miller Elementary School gets new assistant principal

Dennis Adkins became the new assistant principal of Grace Miller Elementary School effective Nov. 13. The 39-year-old was formerly the assessment specialist and testing coordinator for Patrick Henry High School in Hanover County. He also used to teach mathematics for nine years.

Adkins has a bachelor of science in mathematics, a master of teaching in secondary education and a certification for administration and supervision K-12. He received all of his education at the Virginia Commonwealth University.

Adkins sought this position in order to shape how education is delivered as well as what is delivered in classrooms.

Amanda Wilder previously held this position and left to become principal of Haydon Elementary in Manassas, Va.
