Freshman Remi Moshos won a pair of event and set a record Saturday at the Delaney Athletic Conference swim championships to help the Highland Hawks finish sixth in the team standings with 209 points.

Moshos had a hand in four top-five finishes, leading the Highland girls to a fifth-place finish with 109 points, while the Highland boys placed fifth with 100 points. The Wakefield Owls took eighth overall with 103.5 points as their boys (eighth) accumulated 50.5 points and their girls (eighth) contributed 53.

Moshos won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.06 seconds and won the 100 breaststroke in 1 minute, 8.35 seconds, qualifying for state in both events. That 100 breast time broke the DAC championships record by 1.64 seconds.

She also placed second in the 200 medley relay (2:13.05) with Parker van de Water, Julia Massimano and Marissa Ray, and took fifth in the 200 free relay (1:59.28) with Ray, van de Water and Mary Catherine Treuting.

Bailey Mahoney led Wakefield individually by placing seventh in the 200 individual medley (2:36.87) and 100 free (59.67), while the Owls’ 200 medley relay team of Hannah Zontine, Elizabeth Arnold, Hannah Cole and Kate Anderson took fifth (2:30.60).

Also placing in the top-five for Highland was Josh Lutz in the 50 free (third, 24.57, state cut), the 200 medley relay team of Preston Mulford, Gus Moshos, Lutz and Will Bowman (third, 1:58.86, state cut) and the 200 free relay team of Lutz, Jacob Treuting, Gus Moshos and Bowman (fifth, 144:82).

Highland boys basketball 61, Fredericksburg Christian 52

The Highland Hawks improved their record to 5-1 in the Delaney Athletic Conference on Friday with a 61-52 win on the road against the Fredericksburg Christian boys basketball team.

Highland (16-6 overall) used a 15-6 run in the third quarter to pull away and beat Fredericksburg Christian for the first time since the 2009-10 season.

Logan Miller led the Hawks with 19 points, while Dylan Gaither had 15, Rahji Johnson had 13 and Matt Kelly had eight. Johnson added 12 rebounds, while Kelly had nine, and Gaither had four assists and four steals. Miller finished with three assists.
