The Highland Hawks’ boys basketball season came to an end Tuesday with a 71-60 loss to Norfolk Christian on the road during the first round of the VISAA Division II state tournament.
The 10th-seeded Hawks finished with a 19-8 record after claiming a share of the Delaney Athletic Conference regular season championship, while No. 7 Norfolk Christian went on to lose to No. 2 Christchurch, 63-62, in the state semifinals Wednesday.
Against Highland, Norfolk Christian led the entire game, but the Hawks narrowed their deficit to only four points in the fourth quarter before Norfolk pulled away.
Rahji Johnson led Highland with 22 points, while Dylan Gaither had 14, Matt Kelly had 9.
