BEALETON - When first-grader Layla Roberts got off the bus at Grace Miller Elementary School, her principal was waiting next to the principal's chair, decorated in beads and tassels.
Roberts won the “Principal’s Taxi Ride” in a recent school fund raiser, in which she sat in Principal Judy Williams's chair while Williams escorted her from the bus to her classroom, between the classroom and lunch, and then back to the bus at the end of the day, said school secretary Chrisoula Brickey.
Williams entered every student who sold at least two boxes of chocolate in the fundraiser into a drawing for the privilege of the chauffeured trip through the school for the day. Roberts won.
The "taxi ride" is a first for Grace Miller, Brickey said, but it was so well received they're thinking of doing it again in the future.
"It's always a cute little prize to add to any fundraiser," she said.
