Fauquier included in federal emergency declaration

The Associated Press reports that President Barack Obama approved the federal emergency declaration sought by Gov. Bob McDonnell from the winds and rains from Hurricane Sandy last month. Fauquier County is among 25 counties and three cities in Virginia on the list.

The approval makes federal funding available to state and local governments and some nonprofit organizations.
