After winning only four games all of last girls basketball season, the Kettle Run Cougars already have three victories in 2012-13 after beating Loudoun Valley, 37-32, at home in Nokesville on Thursday.

Kettle Run (3-3) took a 10-8 lead in the first quarter, led 19-15 at halftime and survived a Loudoun Valley full-court press in the fourth quarter.

Melissa McCann led Kettle Run with 17 rebounds and scored six of her 11 points in the third quarter, while Emily Yergin had four of her 10 points in the first quarter. Addy Foudray and Jasmine Webster added six points each.
