The Kettle Run Cougars went 4-1 Saturday at the Musselman Duals wrestling tournament in West Virginia with Caleb Yost, Adam Bresson and Jacob Schwind all going undefeated.

The Cougars beat Jefferson (W.Va.), 45-32; Martinsburg (W.Va.), 63-24; Musselman, 46-30; Mountain View, 51-21. They lost to Southern Garrett (Md.), 40-31.

Yost went 5-0 at 126 pounds, while Bresson went 5-0 at 182 and Schwind went 5-0 at 220. Going 4-1 were Alex Windsor at 106, Collin Kratzer at 132 and Cameron O’Conner at 138. Branden James went 3-1 at 145 and Evan Rankins went 1-0 at 145.

Fauquier wrestling goes 2-2 at Pioneer Classic

The Fauquier Falcons went 2-2 Saturday at the Pioneer Classic wrestling duals at Patriot High in Nokesville with their top seven wrestlers combining for a 23-5 record on the day.

Fauquier beat the Colonial Forge B team, 37-36, and the Forest Park B team, 51-21, but lost to Patriot, 42-24, and Brooke Point, 44-30.

Daniel Ariola (113 pounds) and Matt Raines (132) went 4-0 to improve their season records to 11-2 and 13-1. Going 3-1 were Garrett Tingen (126), Clifford Harris (145), Ben Brady (160), Erik Lemus (170) and Max Strum (182). Those seven wrestlers combined for 15 points and 23 wins.

Liberty at Elite track and field meet

The Liberty Eagles had three top-15 finishes Saturday at the Liberty Elite track and field meet in Lynchburg.

Erin Morant led Liberty by placing sixth in the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches), while the Eagles 3,200 relay team of Charles Walker, Chase Kopp, Danny Collins and Adam Walker placed 11th (9 minutes, 19.70 seconds). Charles Walker finished 14th in the 1,600 (4:51.25) and Eric Stiggle took 16th in the 55 hurdles (8.93), while Taylor Brown placed 23rd in the 500 (1:30.58) and 17th in the 1,000 (3:26.24).

Boone Arnold took 17th in the shot put (38-8.75), Ian Vowels finished 21st in the long jump (19-0.75), Anthony Spagnoletti placed 22nd in the 55 dash (6.97), Kevin Clark finished 24th in the shot put (33-6.75), Kopp took 25th in the 1,000 (3:01.32) and Michael Fairfax took 26 in the 55 hurdles (9.51).
