Polo and Wine

The time-honored tradition of Polo returns to Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia this weekend May 9 - 10, 2008. The 2nd Annual Land Rover America's Polo Cup , a charitable event benefiting Journey for the Cure, will match the United States Polo Team against Italy's Polo Team. Expect an action-packed weekend of high-fashion, wine, gourmet food, top musical artists, and of course, Polo.

Loudoun County Virginia's own son of the vineyards, Tareq Salahi, of Oasis Vineyard serves as United States' Team Captain. A fitting tribute on the thirtieth anniversary of Oasis Vineyard and in celebration of one hundred years of polo in Virginia.  Salahi's US team takes on Italy in the second annual America's Polo Cup at Morven Park Equestrian Center Saturday afternoon at 2.00 pm.

The scene is decidedly glamour and chic - with luxury sponsors such as Cartier, Land Rover, Sun Trust, PNC, and DC Magazine - dress is Hermes country style.  And a of those fortunate Hermes-clad specators will be enjoying their $600 view of the Polo Field in the Cartier tent sipping flutes of the jeweler's own Champagne.  Three carat Cartier diamond accessory optional, but highly recommended.  Arrival in your $80,000 Land Rover Range Rover is also sincerely recommended.

For the rest of the tony set can stomp divots for a paltry $50 for the day .  Children under 12 are complimentary.  Fifty bucks includes evening fireworks and a concert with Huey Lewis and the News - a chic bargain, indeed.
