The Death of a Name
As I listened to the radio retrospectives on this, the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s death, it occurred to me that I no longer remembered his assassin’s name. How fitting, I thought, that one so full of self-importance that he saw fit to take another’s life simply because he could, should have his name cast into oblivion, while that of his victim will be revered to the end of the republic.
